The Aspinwall Family
Our dream of owning a small farm began years ago, and by God's grace, it became a reality in 2022. We were blessed to purchase the meadows from a kindhearted couple who, though reluctant to sell, chose to be closer to their grandchildren and prioritize their health. Their love for this land touched us deeply, and we've worked to honor it ever since. One special feature of the property is the charming greenhouse, lovingly built by her late father, which we've named the Henry Melton Greenhouse in his memory.
Another treasure is our indoor growing building, originally crafted to house the Southern Soy Candle Company. Every space here carries a story, and we're excited to write the next chapter with you as part of our journey.
It started with a rose...
When we walked through the meadows at the final walkthrough with the Lytles, we shared smiles and tears, bound by a shared love for this special place. They spoke of its history and the stories behind so many of the gardens, plants and trees that had taken root here. We learned they had exchanged their wedding vows at the end of the dock stretching into the pond, a spot that seemed to echo with their love for family and the land. It was clear this property was more than soil and trees—it was a legacy of devotion.
A New Beginning
In those first summer months, we discovered beauty at every turn. Each bloom felt like a small miracle, and we captured their arrival in photos to share with Mrs. Lytle through text messages. It felt like a way to honor her connection to this land while making it our own. When friends visited, our children joyfully gathered bouquets from the flowers that had burst into bloom. What started as a vision for a small vegetable farm slowly began to transform into something deeper.
One of the most meaningful moments came through an elegant red rose bush that Mrs. Lytle’s late father had planted for her. That rose became a connection point for us—a living symbol of love and resilience. Last fall, Mrs. Lytle was able to take the rose bush to her new home, a reminder of how deeply this land has touched all our lives. Through moments like these, we felt God’s hand guiding us toward sharing His beauty in the meadows.
Faith and Resilience
I’ve always been inspired by the Proverbs woman and strive, however imperfectly, to live by her example. For years, I believed our “field to market” would be vegetables, but God had a different plan. Living with Cervical Spina Bifida—a condition that affects my daily life—has taught me to lean on faith and adapt. Some days bring seizures, long periods of rest, or challenges that seem insurmountable. That’s why we built 3-foot-high raised beds—to ensure I could still nurture this dream, even on hard days.
Many people thought we were chasing an impossible dream, but we believed in God’s vision for our community, . With the help of our children, who earn a fair wage for their efforts as part of their homeschooling, we’ve embraced this journey together. They’re learning not just about farming, but about community, perseverance, and the joy of creating something meaningful.
With the Lytles’ blessing, we’re honored to preserve and share the stories of this land. Every corner of the meadows holds history, beauty, and a reminder that God’s plans are always unfolding in His perfect timing.

If at first you don't succeed.
Since late October 2022, we’ve been exploring new ways to grow and nurture blooms sustainability, embracing indoor agriculture through Deep Water Hydroponics. This method allows us to experiment with providing year-round flowers for our local market, a possibility only achievable within the stability of a controlled environment.
We’ve also incorporated shallow aeroponics for many of our seed starts, giving our flowers a strong and healthy head start. By focusing on robust root systems, we’re ensuring that each bloom thrives and reaches its fullest potential. These innovations are helping us honor our commitment to sustainability and sharing God’s beauty with our community in every season.
Each new technique, each lesson learned, brings us closer to creating a space where growth isn’t just about flowers—it’s about faith, resilience, and the joy of cultivating something meaningful for others.
Throughout our experiment, we had several challenges, lost a few cuttings and had to start over several times. Staying the course, we have learned so many lessons and are thankful that we are finally harvesting many zinnias and have dahlias coming soon! We have doubled in our plant production and have plans of expanding as we are able If it is His will.
Benefits of Growing Hydroponically:
Hydroponics offers incredible advantages that make gardening accessible and efficient:
Flexibility to Garden Anywhere: With hydroponics, you’re not limited by soil quality or outdoor space.
Space Efficiency: This method uses significantly less space than traditional gardening.
Year-Round Growth: Grow fresh flowers or produce in any season, no matter the weather.
Faster Growth Rates: Plants grow up to 50% faster in hydroponic systems.
Higher Yields: Enjoy larger harvests with healthier plants.
Water Conservation: Hydroponics uses less water than soil-based gardening.
Reduced Pests: Controlled environments mean fewer pests and diseases.
We are thrilled to use these benefits to grow local, fresh flowers for any occasion. Whether it’s a bride dreaming of fresh-cut November blooms for her bridesmaids to create their own bouquets or someone seeking vibrant mid-summer wildflowers in early April, we make those dreams possible. Flowers may not always be “in season,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t have your perfect wedding blooms—and we’re here to help!
With ample notice, we can grow many flower varieties in our Lytle Flower Shop, whether in soil or deep water hydroponic tents.
