History:

  • Origin: The Satina potato was developed in Germany, highlighting the rich potato breeding tradition of the region.
  • Breeding: It was bred by Holger Laue from SAKA-RAGIS, resulting from a cross between Puntila and H99/73. This breeding process was aimed at creating a potato with both high yield and excellent culinary qualities.
  • Introduction: Satina was introduced to the market in 1993, marking the beginning of its journey to becoming a popular choice among both growers and chefs.

With its blend of high yield, excellent cooking qualities, and robust disease resistance, the Satina potato is a testament to the effectiveness of modern potato breeding techniques. It's a variety that honors its German heritage while meeting the demands of contemporary agriculture and gastronomy.
