Brandywine Black Tomato is an heirloom variety known for its unique coloration and rich, complex flavor. The large, beefsteak-style tomatoes ripen to a deep burgundy with green shoulders, creating a striking addition to any garden or plate. Each fruit weighs 10-16 ounces and boasts a sweet, smoky taste with hints of earthiness, making it perfect for slicing, fresh salads, or gourmet recipes. Thriving in full sun and nutrient-rich, well-draining soil, Brandywine Black is an indeterminate variety that matures in 80-90 days. The plants are vigorous and require staking or caging to support their heavy yields of substantial fruit. This tomato is a favorite among home gardeners and chefs for its unique flavor profile and luxurious texture. Brandywine Black performs well in both traditional garden beds and raised beds, delivering reliable harvests throughout the growing season. Whether you’re cultivating it for its taste, beauty, or heirloom heritage, Brandywine Black Tomato is a standout choice for any tomato lover.
Tomato - Black Brandywine - Lycopersicon esculentum
Tender Annual Indeterminate. Heirloom. The fuzzy "potato" leaves show that this is the desirable Black heirloom, not a more recent cross. Sought after for its luscious "tomato" taste. The tomatoes are the typical flattened-oval Brandywine shape, and fruits weigh up to a pound. Rich burgundy-purple color with black shoulders. Note: the plants have a tendency to have semi-potato leaves.
